Fifteen children will be celebrating
their First Reconciliation and First Communion during
the month of March. Their preparation included a retreat
on February 20th. This retreat day gave them the opportunity
to tour the Church, make banners and act out a skit of
the Last Supper. It was a wonderful experience for the
children and their parents. The Ladies of St. Joseph served
lunch at the conclusion of the retreat.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We have sixty-five students enrolled
in grades one through eight on Wednesday evening. Those
children in the second year of faith formation are preparing
for celebrating the sacraments of Penance and Eucharist,
while those students in eighth grade are preparing for
the celebration of Confirmation.
The children will return to class on
Wednesday, January 6th after a two-week Christmas break.
November and December were busy with Thanksgiving preparation.
Mrs. MacMillan’s seventh grade class made Thanksgiving
cards and sent flowers to the women at Carter-May Center.
We enjoyed a wonderful Advent preparing
for the Coming of Jesus. Most of the students made Christmas
cards for the residents of Carter-May and St. Joseph’s
Home. They also made them for the shut-ins of the parish.
We are continuing to prepare the First
Communicants and Confirmandi for their sacraments. The
children will begin celebrating the sacraments on February
27th. We have sixteen children in each group.
The RCIA process for children and adults
is progressing nicely. We continue to meet regularly as
we prepare for their initiation into full communion in
the Church at Easter. We meet weekly following the 10:30
a.m. Mass in Room D of the Family Life Center.
The students in the Confirmation class
spruced up the grounds and the church for Christmas. This
task provided them with the opportunity to fulfill their
service project. This project is one of the components
in the preparation for their full initiation into the
Catholic faith.
The Sunday morning preschool program
continues to grow and thrive. Our teams alternate weeks
for teaching. This plan is working nicely.
Check future bulletins for upcoming
adult education.

prosperity in 2010. - Linda M. Baranoski, DRE

the school year. You may access the curriculum at www.nationalcatholic.org/touchingsafety/charleston.htm
